I just got a slide scanner and was looking through some old Bonneville pics and found these 2 shots.  They were overexposed dusty and 50 years old, but interesting for sure!  I will clean slides and upload more, enjoy! grin

Good ol' Burt....

Here's some of Burt off the hard salt, and onto the "briny".  I'm thinking these are from maybe a Christmas party or New Years party on board the SS Oriana, one of the largest cruise ships of the time.  Does anyone know if there was an SCTA event or a VCTA event held on the ship?  Probably an overnighter so no driving required.  That must be the Mrs. along with Chrissie Tremulis, photo by Alex.

That has got to be Burt's hand holding his photo (fresh thumbnail grime).

Happy hour has already begun.  It's five o'clock somewhere.

The SS Oriana was a cruise ship who's major route was the UK to New Zealand and Australia.  It's possible this may have been just a dinner on board prior to departure.  Anyone know if the Munro's traveled by ship to/from the US?

...and if I'm not mistaken, he wasn't married.  So, after Googling around, it looks like that is either June Aitken or Margaret Popenhagen, his daughter, in the middle!!!

Several years ago, Burt was inducted into the AMA Hall of Fame. Both his son and daughter were there.

I only talked to them for a few minutes.  We think Burt's kids..... ya know, youngsters.

No way. They were both carrying a few years on them.

I'll find fotos from that event and post them.

While looking for Burt's kids I found these 2 images of the Triumph with which Gary Richards entered the 2 Club

after making his return run with a broken frame.

I know the images are similar but some people find small differences that excite them.

When this foto was done, the pits were on the opposite side of the course as they are today. Many people pitted along side the dike.

Those fellows are walking toward the starting line.

The freeway was not yet build. We drove east  from town to the 12 mile post, turned toward the mountains, over the shoulder of

the highway, the salt came clear to the highway, crossed a narrow wooden bridge over the canal and then we were on the main portion of the salt.

You really needed sunglasses then. The salt was a brilliant white and no dirt in it anywhere. Just look at the salt in these two shots.

Interesting photos with Burt Munro... For those who are interested, the Oriana still exist.
