My Austin American (correct name) has been legal since 1970 in Gas/Fuel Roadster even tho the rules were changed 4 time to eliminate it. The Dees car was made illegal for the length of the hood after a few years. He then ran it as a modified. I had the body after his death and now Jim Lattin has it. Due to the "spare tire" being filled in, it probably would not be legal in any class today.
Amo Beard has a modified Austin, The Goldmans have one very similar to mine, and the Hudson Boy's have made one into a rear engine modified roadster. One from the past was Dave Kostella's which ran as a gas /fuel at the begining but set records as a Modified. Nearly everyone has put someone in the 200 MHH Club
One from the far past was Meb Healy's which was mounted on a Chevrolet frame and ran the Chev 6 with Chuck Potvin doing the driving. It was the first one to use a 32 Ford grille shell......My Hero......................JD

Wasn't the Crammer/Taylor Roadster the first Normally aspirated Ardun to set a record over 200 in a Roadster? I think it was 201. something. Tom G.

"Got'Cha" was first run in 1974. Bill Temple entered both 2 clubs in 1976 with records in AA/BGR. At El Mirage 201.79 and Bonneville at 220.
In 1977 Greg Temple started driving "Got'Cha" and entered the El Mirage Dirty 2 club in 1979 @ 201.97. Greg went on to set two records at Bonneville, one in 1981 at 241.848, then in 1991 he set another record at 262.230
Bill and Greg were the first father and son to enter the El Mirage Dirty 2 club. They broke the D/BFR at Bonneville in 1981 @ 241 with top speed of 249. This record still stands today. In 1991 they set the A/BFR @ 262 which was later broke by Duane McKinney.

BTW, John Cramer passed away on 12-27-09, when he was trying for the 200 club they broke on the return run. Just Bill Taylor got in the club.
