At El Mirage my buddies bike radiator froze solid at the Nov meet a couple years ago when it got down to 22 degrees one night.

Yes, it has gotten cold at late season events.

But, consider the tradeoffs. A water system that may freeze at night and will require some extra thought and work to prevent. Or, a repeat of the issue suffered at the private meet?

I vote for some creative thinking or a missed meet over the other option.

How about if you are worried about it freezing you drain the water at night?  Pretty hard to beat plain water with a little water wetter for cooling.

Accu-weather forecast low 40's next week. Fairlane is flushed and filled with water as of this morning.

I'll be running water and water wetter.  And if it drops below 20 degs, idle the engine at 8pm for a bit (sitting in the truck), then throw a shipping quilt over the hood to prevent cold air from getting to the radiator.  I have a block heater already, but it's the radiator that would freeze first.

Yep, I'd rather drain the radiator than run a coolant that may catch fire. Now that I run a bike with a radiator, I'll drain the water if it looks like it'll get too cold.

I have been at el Mirage when the overnight temperature fell to 12 degrees. I was there when it snowed enough to stick in the sage. Water in my hoses turned to slush. Pumps wouldn't pump. First few guys burned there motors because of no water circulation. To cold.
