Burkland is running on methanol, not nitromethane.  Remember however the two engines.  They had three 55 gallon drums of ERC fuel visible in the trailer.

I found the salt, now where are the race cars?

Bleeve it or don't we're still here.  The Bullet is at the mountain end of the course.  It was just announced that this will be the last run in that direction.  If it's a good run, they'll try to turn it around and go back.

The course workers have already picked up all the orange cones marking the route back to Land's End.  If ya don't hear from me again, send out a search party.

HELL!  They just announced that the hydrogen tanks have been shut down and the driver is away from the vehicle.  Possibility of fire.

Order tee shirts from Betty at Burkland Builders, Inc., RR 1104 574 Maciver Road, Great Falls, MT  59401.
I'm sure a $25 payment would likely cover the shirt and the shipping.  As I remember the sizes through XL were $17, XXL was $1 more and XXXL was $3 more than the $17.

On Behalf of Top 1 Oil Products Company I would like to thank the land racing community for their support and effort this past week for the Top 1 World Land Speed Shootout.  I would also like to take this opportunity to wish a full and speedy recovery to Leo Hess and Lynn Goodfellow, our thoughts and prayers with you both.

As for Mike, Rocky, the Crew and the entire Top 1 Ack Attack family, I am at a loss for words...you are some of the finest people I've had the pleasure to know.  Collectively you are a dedicated team focused to accomplish your goal.  No matter how big or small, over the past 4 years you rose above every challenge in your path and accomplished what only 24 hours ago seemed impossible.  You've made history (twice) and nobody can take away from you, enjoy it!  Thank you for including Top 1 along for the ride and we now look forward to telling our customers around the world your inspiring and historic story.

Thank you again and God bless you all.

This is the end.  The Bullet will not be able to make the run.  There was no fire...but that's all she wrote for this meet.

Word is that there was an "over pressure event in the fuel cells.  The pressure release damaged the rear body section and the fuel cell cover."  No fire.  Driver is fine.  Might need to change the firesuit, but according to the team spokesman it was a "non-threatening event."

I'm outta here.

cool Before everyone signs off here I would like to thank everyone involved with this post for all their hard work and congratulate all the competitors.
Speedy recovery to Lynn and Leo.
This was a blast for me. I miss the salt and all my friends who show up there. I have not made it since 2003 when I sold my last streamliner to Earl Wooden.
Someday I hope to be able to make the trip again.

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime.  His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.

Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all.
