Ack Attack safe run, 359 speed into the lights, fastest one-way run for a motorcycle ever. He's stopped at the -1/2 mile, preparing for the turnaround.

Turnaround in progress as I type. One side of the canopy lifted as Rocky was in the middle of tbhe timed section. He rolled out of the throttle slightly, but still got a km and mile speed over 359.
There's a gyrocopter flying around out hear whose pilot insisted to Wes Potter that he had "his airspace" but promised to stay away from the course.
Crew's about finished with the turnaround. More as it happens.

Well Ray, the pilots do have a right to fly. This right does not, however, prevent stupidity nor good common sense. As a pilot, I vote for good common sense but I don't always win the vote. Skip

I assume BLM got some money for the right to use the area for this event.. I would further asume that it is closed for the event both vertically and horizontally??? Or no? Yes I know the danger in the word 'assume' LOL

An earlier bike run on Monday was scrubbed when the helicopter flew too close to the course and the prop wash hit the bike liner. When the pilot is listening to the photographer on board they do what they *#%& please and have no regard for the safety of the driver on the course. They have to get their shots when a vehicle is slow because they can't keep up after the vehicle is into second gear

Course is now open, run complete. They're at the big end. No additional return run planned.
Heading for their pits.

IMO, a small gyrocopter will not have near the "wash" of a large powered craft. Hopefully, this fellow will have some common courtesy and remain away from the fun. There was problems with the flying media at speed week as well. Even some on the ground had to be talked to. They don't understand safety or rules, they just want the pictures.
