Man this is 10 times better then radio as it's recorded here forever. Getting to read it like it's happening even if you're working on getting ready for another race or still trying to desalt and disassemble some crazy little 250cc bike makes the latter hard to do. No matter when you read Slims words hear, it will feel like you were hearing it live. Go Sam, Rocky, Leo , and everyone.... what a 2 wheel year this is going to be!!!! (my customers think I'm working on shop paperwork that I'm behind on from WOS) Todd

So the Missile is actually running against the JCB DieselMax record that Andy Green set in 2006?
Actually it won't affect their record, IIRC, the JCB was AA engine, and Goodfellow is B engine. The Duramax can't be taken out that big. But the fastest diesel powered vehicle anywhere today is JCB, and Goodfellow is in striking range. Aw, that makes sense now...Best of luck breaking the all out diesel record. What a feet that would be considering the multi-million dollar effort that JCB put into it. GO GO Missile crew

Todd, are you and the other V-Twin folks pulling extra hard for the Hess bike?
He's got his suit on, his helmet is being tightened as I type, and we're forecasting a run within about five minutes. Winds are 2-4 mph down the course (out of the north, that is).
Next vehicle is #1320, the Kuryakyn bike, ridden by Leo Hess. In case you missed my ost from yesterday, it's a 181-inch "Harley" running on about 85% nitro. Sure wish I could be at the start to hear it light off and leave. I think that if he gets a good run in I'll go to the tower for the return -- that engine at full twist oughta be a righteous-sounding rig!

I'm waving books in the air trying to cause a tail wind (or draft depending on his direction) Would live to hear that thing at the 5!!!!! Todd(hoping i'm not missing anythign while I'm typing this)

Hess' bike is running, they're pulling the training wheels off, the bike is underway.

Leo Hess is on the way down the course. Entry speed: can't get it to shift. coasting -- shut off 'tween ten and nine and coasting. Couldn't get it to shift.

Bike is stopped at the 6 1/2, engine off. Course workers are released to move about.
Sorry folks. Dang it!!! Wish we'd get a couple more full runs in -- but this is world-class top speed land speed racing, and these vehicles are pretty high-strung and suffer from faults. And also -- if things aren't 100% correct - a little problem is magnafied by the speed.
Other stuff: 15 minutes remaining in Akatiff's bike's 2 hours, 1 hour for Sam Wheeler.
