Okay, okay -- you folks are giving me a swelled head. Nancy thanks you. First -- the Paypal button on thelower left corner of the home page does connect to my account, so use it at your pleasure. Second, I wish to heck Jon Amo had made it out here -- he has another way for me to put these updates on the site -- that'd make it easier for you folks to see without having to be in the forum. And the Forum location also makes it difficult for the non-forum members to see the new stuff -- so Jon, send me a note or give me a call and maybe I can learn how during these down times.
Back to the Private Meet:
The Ack bike is going to run, from the pit end of the course (near the freeqay, towards the mountain), in about a half hour.
Sam Wheeler is here after all -- I just didn't see his and crew and pit when we first arrived. I've heard the motor running over there, so they're working on it.
The Ack bike's motor(s) running right now.
Mormon Missile is working -- at least an hour or more 'til next attempt.
Weather right now is mostly cloudly but bright, wind is zero, 25.97" SP, DA 4,700 feet, temp is 62.

I created a new topic to track the unofficial speeds for this meet as reported in this thread. It's been stickied to stay at the top of the Bonneville General Chat board and it's locked so only the admins/mods can update it. I'm trying something new with this. If you have any new info feel free to post it here & I'll try to keep that post clean & up to date. http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,4735.msg63843.html#msg63843Debbie PS: Re above SSS post, yes a lot of this can/should be reported on the main page but we should come up with a system to keep it clean and simple so for now I'm going this route so the main LR.COM page doesn't look junkie. We can be a little more informal in here! I have some ideas & have been doing a little research but nicely formatted things take time!

I talked with Mike Nish this morning, he said "it's real hurt." Ah come on, just put the stick thingy under the roller thingy and fire it!

Say it isn't so about the Nish liner swallowing a valve. This was the 800incher correct? Is this the same motor they had problems with last year, just built bigger? Or do they have last years motor ready to go at the shop? Just talking out load, wondering if they have any options to keep running if they did indeed break the motor that is in the car now! Keeping my fingers crossed they can keep running this week I could say that it wasn't so, but this photo kinda tells the story. It ain't pretty. When I talked with Mike Nish this morning, he said "it's real hurt." Man that's a heart breaker!!! Let's hope they have something sitting in the shop back in SLC so they can come back out and play. Very quick update, since I didn't have the camera. The cylinder head is off, one exhaust valve head is AWOL, but the head looks ok to me...in a quick glance. They were peering down into the cylinder as I left. There may be a coroner's verdict soon. Let's hope they can replace the valve and run...but I wouldn't count on it. Btw, no one has said anything (that I heard) about a spare motor. I would have thought that they'd be doing a swap if they had one available. Wait and see on that one. Ron Main has guys workin their tails off to get the Demon back in running order. The plan right now is to make more runs as soon as it's repaired...but it's a huge job. The motor is out of it and on a hoist and they're thrashing on body skins, bulkheads, etc. Parts are on the way or will be very soon. Wish 'em luck. RtR RtR

11.12AM Ack bike, in the hauler, is being pulled by Mike's pickup to the far end of the course (zero marker, right by the highway).
110VAC power supply for this laptop is plugged in and recahrging the battery.
Nancy just had a swig of red Powerade.
We've graduated to "big time' --= have one of the FM radios in the truck with us.
Course stewards are in place.
Land's End is "locked down" so no one can enter the salt flats right now.
CB is telling us to stay off to the sides of the course, so I've just backed up 50 feet.
I was brought a tripod this morning, so wil try to get some video (or at least non-blurry still pics) as the bike goes past.
End of report. No, not the end -- I'm hoping to learn how to post these updates on the front page so you don't have to be going through the forum all the time. Soon, folks, soooooon.

I just spoke with Sam by cell phone. He is fiddling with some minor engine thing and is itching to run while the wind is down. He has our IGNTION3/nNovia solid state on-board video camera setup [shameless plug] and we are hoping for some good footage......hopefully even better than we had in WORLD'S FASTEST MOTORCYCLE show. Mike Akatiff has the same setup and he has some great footage from BUB.
Does anyone have an e-mail setup out there and a printer? I have a checklist to send to Sam that he never got in the thrash on Sunday night to get up there.

So now it should be 15 minutes or so.... We all know streamliner guys however, add another 1/2 hour onto that.... and if your name is Skip Hedrick add another 1 hour or more when he is next to go.... (story there)

Latest, as usual --- and Jon is right. It's going to be 15 minutes 'til Rocky leaves -- 15 minutes for the last half hour. Rocky is dressed and getting in the bike. The helicopter pilot has been asked to stay farther up and off-course from the bike -- the thinking is that maybe it was wash from his rotor that made Rocky feel a gust of breeze during the previous run.
Wind is still zero at the four mile. Also zero at the nine mile. Also zero at the tower.
AMA and FIM folks are at the 12 mile (far end of the track). All's ready. Engines not running in the bike, though.

Freud:
Good minds work in the same gutter (or something). I just thought of that. I'll head their way as soon as I know if Rocky's leaving in the next two minutes.

As we wait -- Rocky's in the bike, and the officials are chasing a couple of stray tourists that are close to the track at the four mile.
They're packing the Mormon Missile with ice (intercooler) right next to us in the pits, and that implies they'll make a run pretty soon.
Ack bike has requested and been given "clear course". Engines starting. Winds are still zero.
