That's it for now, folks.  Go to the bathroom, go fill your coffee cups, do some work so that boss doesn't think you goofed off all day.

No vehicles in line to run now, and the push truck for Hess has just arrived at the bike to retrieve him.

Course security has opened the course for now.  I'll be back after I do some snooping around.

I remember the nets from earlier events.  The first time I saw them used was when I think it was Carl Heap in the Phoenix swallowed a valve and had an engine fire and he used them successfully.  BTW the valve piece was HUGE!

C'mon, guys... knock off the play by play updates.  I gotta get some work done!

No WAIT.  What did that OLD salt racer tell me once... "NEVER let work get in the way of your hobbies."

Yeah, that was it.  Okay, I stand corrected.

DISREGARD this posting.

And keep the cool reports coming.

Wuhdya say folks?  Should we see about getting SSS the John Maddin award?  Here's one vote  X

Say it isn't so about the Nish liner swallowing a valve. cry

This was the 800incher correct? Is this the same motor they had problems with last year, just built bigger? Or do they have last years motor ready to go at the shop? Just talking out load, wondering if they have any options to keep running if they did indeed break the motor that is in the car now!

Keeping my fingers crossed they can keep running this week smiley

1st year with the Nish "Big" motor at private meet they made some runs and aborted the motor for that meet due to "LOW" oil pressure. Crew took liner back to SLC and put the smaller motor in and ran in the 380 mph range.

2nd year at private meet with that big motor, put a rod out the bottom of the motor and thru the body on first pass.

3rd year, this year, they swallow a valve, gulp..... Alot of cubic dollars there...

Let me make this clear for the folks at home..

Jon Amo meant to write..I was safely 30 miles from home before Kelani realised I had taken her new Chrysler 300 to go to the salt, she then said no... grin so I was forced to return home.... embarassed

Jon A,

Hope it was nothing serious and send me your payment request..

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime.  His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.

Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all.

Jon   thanks for turing around!!!!!!!  I didn't have your cell phone number---but I thought and worried about you trying to drive straight through----thanks for making the smart choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!---I no longer drive from Phoenix to the Salt straight through during the day unless I have a co driver and we get to start early!!!!!

I could say that it wasn't so, but this photo kinda tells the story.  It ain't pretty.  When I talked with Mike Nish this morning, he said "it's real hurt."

Let's hope they have something sitting in the shop back in SLC so they can come back out and play.

I agree.  SSS deserves the award.  This is a great thread.  I feel like I'm on the salt after all.  How bout we all dig into our pockets and send some moola to Landracing.com?  I'll be getting a check off.  Where do I send it?

9:35 AM PDT and there are 66 people signed on.

WOW

Don't any of us work anymore?

Seems that the advertising rates just skyrocketed.

Thanks Deb and Jon and Jon Amo also.

Amo's vision is certainly blossoming.

There was a PayPal account set up in the past. It's probably still there.
