Kitty O'Neil may have gone 400 mph at El Mirage in Ky Michaelson's rocket dragster. I "may" have exceeded 400 mph at El Mirage in my honda earlier this year as well. Unfortunately, my claims have fallen on deaf ears...

I have not seen the specific data source (wheel rpm, GPS, or airspeed) for 400 mph cited by the NAE team.

According to the link you posted it was at Bonneville not El Mirage. Either way it must have been a nice ride. Not really relevant to this discussion but a nice ride nonetheless. I have not seen the specific data source (wheel rpm, GPS, or airspeed) for 400 mph cited by the NAE team. I'm quite sure that was an oversight and all relevant data will be submitted for your certification ASAP.

..... However, O'Neil's record was set at El Mirage. This makes her the only American thus far to set an FIA Category C record at a venue outside of Bonneville. Then someone should tell the FIA because the link you posted lists the place of the record as being Bonneville. (LIEU means place in French) http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-public.nsf/7D4955E7190F1A25C12572FB00559369/$FILE/Records_List_Cat-C.pdf

Somebody should also tell the FIA that Art Arfons set the LSR three times.

Franklin,
With your knowledge and connctions you should take on the Arfons project as a personal quest.
Let us know how it works out for you upon your return.

As "Landspeed" Louise Noeth has discussed in her editorials on the subject, the records of jet racers are not the only ones to have fallen through the cracks in the French bureaucracy. Have fun in Paris.
