:?The date change, I believe, is ill conceived.  Ill conceived in that the problems with the date change, of the racers involved, weren't given proper consideration.  The dates around hotel reservations are one thing--and those who planned ahead (as early as January) have their reservations.  I would guess that at least 75% of the 2008 Bub participants are already booked.  As the original dates have been posted for several months, why the change now?

There are four machines I personally know of that have to be flown in from other countries to participate in the Bub event.  When taking care of the logistics of such monumental endeavors, firm dates are ever so important.  A two day later date might not mean anything to some, but it's a catastrophe of epic proportions for those who are trying to coordinate and put together their entrants, which involves crossing the big ponds.

My entrant for the 2008 Bub Meet took a major hit by this date change.  In my group, there are approximately 30 overseas flights that have to be cancelled and changed at a cost of 10's of thousands of dollars to many.  Point in fact: Hartmut Weidelich, my back up rider from Germany, had to cancel four booked flights at a cost of $250 each.  $1000 in my own camp has already been lost as a result of this date change, and that's only for starters.

huh I'm also aware that there are at least 100 spectators coming to the Bub Meet from North America and other countries just to watch the Vincent streamliner run against the big boys.  These individuals are quite upset, as they've planned their vacation times and made their hotel reservations around the original dates.  The main complaint is that almost 100% will have to leave two days early, as this was their departure date that can't be changed.

sad  I might point out another pertinate fact.  When the original dates were finalized, there was no note as to the date being subject to change.  All participants acted on the good faith assumption that these were the final dates.  With only 16 weeks before this major meet, no doubt hardships to many will abound.

No later than last week I got three more reservations booked at the Econo Lodge.  There might not be rooms at the cushy casinos, but there are probably many other digs available.

How many of you who plan to attend the Bub Meet didn't already have your reservations before this change of date?

Max, in my opinion the Vincent 'liner IS one of the big boys.  And I sure wouldn't put Sam's bike in the B B category, even if it is faassstttttt.

The Vincent Owners Club North American Rally dates were coordinated to jive with the Bub Meet dates so that people could attend both events.  Some of the group that have deep pockets and aren't job obligated will most likely still attend the Bub Meet, all they'll have to do is find something to fill in a two day more gap, and change their Wendover reservations.  Others not so flexable won't see the last two days of the meet, when I expect the Vincent streamliner to be on song.  What a shame.

Max, the date change sucks....  angry
Looks like the pressure is now on you to run early in the event.
If you need a hand with anything give me a call, I am sending a PM with my number.

Denis just gave me a call explaining everything about the date changes and his reasons why.

I emphatically disagreed with his assessment, but the dates still won't be changed back to the original.

...and just like Forest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."
