..............Other than that -- there's a Motel 6, which isn't all that bad, and a Super 8, a handful of the more-expensive chain motels, four or five casinos (including the lowest cost one, the Red Garter), and a few independents...........................
I called Motel 6 the 1st of Sept. to get a room for Wed. through Sat. for World Finals. They quoted me a total price of $180 for the 4 nights. I used my credit card and received a confirmation number. A week or so later a friend tried to book a room and they quoted him a much higher price. Now they realized there was a race event that week. He told them of my price and they told him that when I got there my price would be higher. I called them a couple days before World Finals to make sure I still had a room and at the price I had been quoted. They told me that now the price was $270 even though I had a confirmation number. I argued with them and decided to take the higher price. I asked them to assure me that when I showed up that the new $270 price would be honored. They said it would. I got there and went to check in and was then told it would be $320 something. I argued again to no avail. I said I'll stay tonight at the $34.95 that was posted on the street sign and told them to cancel the rest of the nights. The next day I checked into Red Garter for about $25 a night and $50 for the friday/sat. nights. Nice room just not as convenient to get to.
I finally called Motel 6 corporate yesterday and complained. The woman was very nice and told me she would lodge a complaint and no they should not of changed the price once I had a confirmation number and that Wendover Motel 6 would be hearing from them. She is suppose to get back to me in the next 12 days to let me know the outcome.
I am now very leery of quoted prices in Wendover even if I have a confirmation number. The woman said that if it happened again to take the room and call the corporate number right away.
