The Hayabusa V8.....the ultimate LSR motor for F class?
« on: April 25, 2007, 06:58:07 PM »

There is a company in England that is making Hayabusa V8 mills with very impressive results.
The motor is a 2.6 L making 380HP without help and can run up to 10K+.

wonder what it would do with 12 or more psi!!!

My next project may very well have one of these motors
they have already made gearboxes and final drives to run in a car .....that is if I can get the one I have to speed!

Check them out at:

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

It gets to the point where it stops making sense (Apologies to the B-52's).

Walt Kudron ( Last top-speed-of -the-meet at Maxton ) now has a
Hayabusa that puts out 635 HP at the rear wheel, on gasoline.

I would think that two (2) of these top ends, with less engine power losses,
but put through a conventional transmission, might offer up 1,250 Rear wheel power.
On alcohol, certainly 1,500 reliable wheel HP is not out of the question.

All with an "F" motor.

Makes you wonder how fast Rick Yacoucci could go with one........

The thing I would wonder is how much HP a Busa chain can handle, especially with the additional weight of a car and the additional traction of two tires.

Wheel spin probably saves the chain on a bike.

But would I love to hear one of those things scream :)

Edit, didn't see the gearbox at first.  Problem solved.

I know of a stock displacement 1300cc busa that made 704HP to the rear.....@ 35-40 psi!

I could see a guy putting a set of the Muzzy big block jugs on 1460 cc per side to make 2.92L and with cam and some head work could easily make in the 480+ hp range on gas and no blower.

I would like to email them just to see what one would cost.
I love this:

"Engines and transaxles are only available directly from the factory. A deposit of £5,000 is required with order, with the balance paid and cleared prior to despatch."

That is in the neighborhood of a 10K USD deposit.

I wonder what my wife would say if I told her I had one on the way???
Maybe I would be moving in with Sumner!!!!

400mph easy, but he needs a better transmission.

A ‘dressed’ 2.6 (with pumps, generator and starter) will be about £17,000 ($33,951), with another £3,000 ($5,998) for the ignition and ancillaries while the transaxle complete with limited slip will be about £6,000 ($11,997), all figures plus VAT.

Actually, for a car streamliner you could stick several standard Hayabusas in it.

For a motorcycle, you could stick two standard Hayabusas in it.

Ebay - $3,000 for a used engine.

OK, I will open the door...
I have corresponded with Mick Hyde, one of the guys in this project.  They put up a lot of cash to make the thoughts of some a reality.  They are interested in landspeed racing and sound willing to partner with a suitable streamliner.  They have 3 versions of the motor in the works.

A portion of one of our emails...
"Yes we have produced a 2 litre version but we have not run it because the
French series we were going to run in banned it! We are also producing a tuned
2.8 litre version which we estimate will put out 450bhp. (88kgs-200lbs)
> Our 380 bhp 2.6 litre motor uses standard heads, cams and compression.
> Prices are £18K standard 2.6ltr, £24K tuned 2.8.approx. ECU, induction and
exhaust extra.
> Worth every penny!"

The standard motor is all stock parts, no head work, did anyone else notice the 2 liter version?
OK, unleash the dogs of war...  :-D

The standard Busa head can't make near the HP as a F-1 motor because it runs so slow.
The Busa is a good motor but F-1 power is out of it's league.
Obosolite Rally motors from a spares package are available also.

The now obsolete 990cc GP bike motors are >250 hp NA on gas, tuned for some flexibility, not peak power.

Yep, how much do you want to spend?     :?   Horsepower is all about cubic inches or cubic dollars...
