I think I remember a VW Bug, in the 60's, called the "Black Widow". I recall it ran a Turbonique trans axle or direct drive. I think it ran in the 9's. Hot Rod, Popular Hot Rodding or Car Craft ran articles on it. I recall it was more than a handful to keep straight and made some aero enhanced, challenging runs. (As in getting very light at speed because of the solid pan chassis of the Bug.) If I remember right, the crew and driver were Afro-American, thus the tag Black Widow?.

There is a '64 Ford Galaxie outfitted with one too. I saw it a few years ago at Carlisle.

I would think the quick change drag axle use only would qualify for the omega class.

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.
