As to your comment that stock pieces don't need to be removed in Modified, I have not seen that stated (may have missed) and in the class rules for Altered it says no streamlining as in rule 4.cc is allowed unless specified. To me that means if it came that way, you have to take it off. I realize the horse is dead. Again just want level playing field and rules interpretation stated.
