Several people have tried various bonded materials and shapes from carborundum to the various plastic compounds without success.
They had the luxury of the best in the industry available and failed.
If a molded material was soft enough to "PAW" and get a contact patch not to slip it would be so weak as to destroy it's self.
Thrust vehicles use a lot of power to displace the running surface to get some bite and that scars the surface and prevents further use of that alignment.
