It's time to start a thread for this years World of Speed. Last year we invited people to bring their belly tank cars as a historical highlight for WoS.  This year we are
going to feature Harley Davidson motorcycles that have dry lakes racing history.  We ask anyone that is interested, to bring a current or former Harley that has racing
pedigree on the dry lakes.  We will provide pit passes and participation award to those that bring a bike for display. We are going to set aside a section of the pits to
display the bikes.
Please check our website for additional information.
June is the month that the course preparation starts, we will keep everyone up to date as work progresses. Stay tuned for more info.

Monte - have you let the folks at the Harley Davidson Museum know about this?

Jim Fricke.  He's a west coaster, moved to Beerhaven - I'll see if I can dig up his e-mail addy for you.

We had indeed been in contact with the people at Harley, and in fact they had agreed to bring their traveling museum/display.  This was two years ago, due to a
change in their budgetary situation they contacted us to say they would no longer be able to participate.
Chris, if you can come up with any contact info we will be glad to pursue any leads you can provide.
Stainless, we are planning on including current bikes as well. The motorcycle people have been good to support us from the very beginning and we want to show
our thanks to them.

OK, Monte, et al.:

With SCTA canceling Speedweek earlier today, many of us are now looking to USFRA and WoS for our annual salt fix.

Please do whatever you can to make a quick decision as to whether or not WoS will happen.

I'd rather come down there and work in Tech for USFRA, but if not, I'll go run (probably last!) in the SCCA National Championship autocross in Lincoln, NE.

So, keep us posted!!!

Thanks,
Jeff in Boise

Monte, another question for you now that SW has been cancelled.  What is your capacity for taking on us SCTA orphans?  I'm not able to make the October WF, so my only hope for racing this season is your WOS event.

How many of us can you accommodate?  Are we better off to register with you now (first come, first served), or "wait & see" about salt conditions and register upon arrival?

We are very sorry to hear about the cancellation of Speedweek. We know first hand the frustration on behalf of the racers, officials and spectators.
At this point in time we are moving forward with plans to host World of Speed 2015.  Obviously there will be regular inspections of the salt conditions and that will determine what the possible configurations could be. Larry Volk, Dennis Sullivan and Gary Wilkinson will be going out just prior to Labor Day and we hope to be able to make a final decision then.
We have our monthly club meeting scheduled for July 29th where more discussions will take place. Stay tuned for updates and information both on saltflats.com and here on landracing.

A correction to the proceeding post.  The monthly club meeting will be held Wednesday August 5th, not July 29th.

Unless someone gives me a good reason otherwise, i'm gonna mitigate my Speed Week disappointment by sending off a World Of Speed entry application this morning.

Is there any reason to delay?

Is there any provision to roll over my Test and Tune entry to World of Speed?

We are still weighing all the upcoming decisions that need to be made. We are having a club officers meeting tonight to discuss the more urgent matters.  Anyone that signed up for the Test-N-Tune can roll over their entry for WOS.  One of the main topics for tonights discussion will be the number of entries and how to handle them, meaning take them now or wait a bit longer before accepting additional entries.  We are still monitoring the surface conditions and suitable locations for the tracks.
I will post more updates here tomorrow and they will also be posted on our web site.
