Three times I have tried to get to Bonneville and ALL THREE TIMES the event got rained/flooded out.  So to help assure a dry World Finals, I am not going.  Conclusion:  I am the reason that events get rained out.
If anyone reading this lives somewhere that needs rain, please feel free to invite to come there.

Parched is close.  Today we were 111.   30 miles away they were getting thunderstorms and flooding.  The state is confused.  But as long as the crap drops here and not on the salt its all OK.

Sorry I can't help California or South Africa just now.  However I'll be in Sedona, Arizona late this month and then in October will be spending a week in Boston and a week in Philadelphia.  Those areas should implement preventive maintenance programs on umbrellas, storm drains, standby generators and sump pumps.  You have been warned. . . .

Storm drains here can handle 1/4" of rain. Any more and they flood over.  If the humidity rises over 60% we get power outages.  But as long as the rain stays away from the salt I don't care.

As of yesterday - when I talked with BLattin - racing will begin Saturday and the toilets are to arrive Wednesday.  That's the same pattern as at SpeedWeek.  If we assume that that's all correct - you'd be able to get on the salt Thursday to set up your pit and get ready for inspection, and get said inspection done maybe Thursday and for sure Friday.

But that's only my assumption.  I'll see if I can contact someone that will confirm or deny those dates.  I'll be driving tomorrow for the first half of the day -- and that means no internet.  Have you checked the SCTA website to see what it says?  I have not -- again, I've been driving 800++ miles day for the last couple of 'em.

"Speed Week"
 at World Finals Update

This SCTA Speed Week at World Finals event is shaping up to be the best conditions for racing at the famed Bonneville Salt Flats all year.
Your SCTA advance crew will be on the salt starting Monday September 22nd, 2014 and we will start reporting that afternoon on the salt conditions.  We will put out an AM and PM report allowing all of our racers and fans to stay in-touch with the conditions as soon as they are known.

We are going to continue Speed Week with the racing program remaining and participant merchandise from Speed Week being distributed to all Speed Week at World Finals competitors.

The SCTA store will be in full operation during racing days, if you are unable to attend you may purchase Speed Week and our new very popular Century of Speed merchandise through our SCTA on-line store at http://shop.scta-bni.org/

The Bonneville Salt Flats will be opened on Friday September 26th, 2014 for tech inspection and racers pit selections.  Racing will start on Saturday, September 27th and continue through Friday, October 3rd 2014.

The SCTA wishes to again thank all of the racers and fans who came from all over the country and the globe to attend our originally scheduled Speed Week in August.  We sincerely regret that the inclement conditions prevented us from racing, but we now look forward to Speed Week at World Finals.

Racing will start on Saturday, Sep 27th and continue
 through Friday Oct 3rd
