Ohio State Buckeye Bullet 3 progress.
« on: August 18, 2014, 11:02:57 PM »
Just got a text from David Cooke of OSU.
They plan to run tomorrow.
I will try my best to explain what they are doing out there when there is no scheduled meet.
They could not wait for the Shootout as school will be starting by then.
They have paid the extra money for a private event with Mike Cook strictly because of timing with school starting back up. Let's all wish them the best of luck with both the running of the car and the weather .it is a beautiful piece!

Rob, Thanks for the update.

I'll be waiting. Both of our teams will be

waiting on the Salt.

Rob:

Thanks for reminding me (here) that the fellow's name is David Cooke.  I couldn't remember - so I couldn't get a message to him.  I asked Mike Crawford and learned that Mike'll try to get them to get with me today.  And now you've gone and beat me to it.  I'll post anything that I learn, too.  thanks.

Best of luck to the OSU team.
I talked to them several years ago and they are a hard working
bunch. When I studied the technology on their car, my eyes kinda just
glazed over. Simply amazing.

From the Venturi web site:

"Weather conditions have forced organizers of the FIA electric vehicle world speed record attempt to reduce the track from 12 miles to 8 miles."

I wonder what that means.  I hope it's something like the winds are too high - rather than it's slushy at the far end. :?

Ron Main just called -- reports that the Buckeye Bullet is getting charged up for a run at 3 o'clock.  I wonder which three -- Eastern time, where OSU is, or Mountain time, on the salt.  Whatever way you read it, it sounds like we'll have something to report later on today.  And that's a good thing.

Can anyone tell us what (FIA) class VBB-3 will be in?

I know it's not particularly important because they are going for fastest electric record, but still would be interested to know.  Alternatively, what does the car weigh?

Thanks for any info.

The car weighs about 8000lbs.

Thanks.

Answering my own question, that should be Category A, Group VIII, Class 8, although may dip into Class 7 (if less than 3,500kg).

lots of things are not going to happen , no holeing pistons, spitting out rods, popping a blower. I'm thinking all of us that are playing with our noise makers are maybe a little bit hanging on to the OLD way of doing things   GOOD LUCK GUYS BE SAFE AND GO FAST

I don't have a problem with that.  I happen to like that "noise".
