With EFI, not carb, with supposed compensation for temp and barometer, my car consistently ran faster late in the day when hot (qualifying) than early AM when cooler (record return.) Of course some tuning factor may have been in play as well but suggested to me that the lower aero drag at lower density was the reason.

Jack, with our 1 liter EFI tuned for the same AFR we ran 6 MPH faster at WF than at SpeedWeek... Pork Pie is still smiling  grin
We like the dense air, need to talk your EFI into using it  cheers

MSA Bockscar Lakester #1000 my fastest mile 245 and change, 84 ci turbobusa motor... but Corey's 233 MPH H/BFL record is still 3MPH faster than mine.

Last year with our carbs we ran 10 mph slower in the morning than we did at the afternoon. We thought it was a combination of tuning and increased drag. Was just curious what you guys with more experienced had found out over the years.

No argument here. Is why I run an ice water intercooler N/A Smiley

The DA can change a lot during the day and a tuning change may be necessary with carbs more than with EFI. The drag guys are always talking about "good air" and Udo Horn (on here as hotschue and crew for me) who used to run funny cars would check conditions- pressure, temp, humidity etc- immediately before a run, plug into a calculator and set jetting accordingly. I am sure most folks here are aware of doing this so not saying anything new. But the DA can go up several thousand feet morning to afternoon.
