Hi All

I'm still in the planning stages of his build at the moment and will be for some time,but have decided to start a build diary to assist with it.I first traveled to bonneville from New Zealand in 03 and again in 08,its definatly a place that has left a long lasting inpression on me, along with Lambretta's speed achivements in the 50's
 

At this stage i have collected some rims and tires, and currently working on drawings of the body and and collecting parts for the engine,

Next month im travelling to Australia for work and to watch a little drag racing and will be meeting Jon to take a look at his liner and Ross Browns, hopfully this help answer some of my questions and inspire me on my build

What are you making from the  block of alloy under the barrel?

Is the transmission in the swingarm?

Hi Jon

Going to make a head with the alloy,something a little bigger than stock,
the gearbox is in the rear of the engine casing with the clutch and is driven from the crank with a chain.
Yes me to, look forward to checking out your machine.

One of the driving forces behind my build is the history of MG in land speed racing.  It appears that you, too, have found a historical touchstone as inspiration.  When progress eludes you, you'll find that sustaining.

I've also found that maintaining the build diary keeps you focused.  I've seen so many that start off, and after 3 or 4 months, we never hear from them again.

Don't let that happen.

Thanks for your input MM, i was going to hold off starting this build thread for a while as i dont intend starting with construction till at least mid next year or when ever my current project is finished (having just about finished one at the moment and diving head first in to the current) But Jon has informed me he has found his a great help with his project, so ive decided to push on and as you have mentioned i think this will help with keeping momentium.

Go Nicholai!...looks like you've got the right ingredients, inspiration, something that we all know that you have to get out of your system and the tools to do the job. The renders look nice, a little more tail?....A build diary is indispensable, the advice and support you get with the ability to go back and read about what you were thinking or doing with your build is a great way to get through the low points , and you'll have them.

We're with you on this one. cheers

You might want to check with the organizers, wherever you plan to run.  Motorcycles are required to run minimum of 15" wheels (I haven't checked DLRA).  AMA/Bub let some scooters run last year, but they had to run in "Production" class, I believe.

There's a scooter entered for SCTA-BNI SpeedWeek -- it has 15" wheels.  Other concerns of SCTA are steering dampers and front axle retention.
