classic altered is my guess, can't be production since they didn't make 500... can't be modified because it was never production.

Why not run an Indian made Enfield? Those Fury parts are pretty valuable for something destined for the corrosion, or rather, salt flats.

A friend told me to check out this post because of some bad info........

A 1960 Royal Enfield Fury is a motorcycle which would run in the M or MPS class, depending on if it had a fairing or not.
It is a Push Rod class bike.
The displacement class would depend on the actual displacement of the engine.
Then it is either G for Gas class or F for Fuel class.
El Mirage does not use the M classes, all non-Production class sit-on bikes are in the A classes.
So a 500cc un-faired bike in the gas class would be 500cc A-PG at El Mirage.
At Bonneville it would be a 500cc M-PG

Classic Altered is a car class.

The Fury was a factory made hopped up Royal Enfield.  RE's are made in India now and Hitchcock's in England is one of their premier dealers.  They make parts to convert a modern RE into a modern style Fury.  These attached are from the September 2013 Classic Bike Guide.  Somewhere around this mess of a desk I have an article about the original Fury.  The special cylinder head makes this the best of the RE singles for land speed.
