This is to announce that we are making two key changes to the upcoming October 2013 Mojave Magnum:

First, we are changing the event date to October 12-13, which is one week later than the date we originally listed. We are making this change to better fit in with the other race events that occur in the fall months, notably the World Finals on Oct 3-6. We hope this date is still viable for you to come out to race with us.

Second, based on racer feedback, we have decided to make this a dual-distance event, offering both a 1.0 mile course and a 1.5 mile course. As many of you know, we have been working to create a second set of speed traps to do this; however, because of the location of the crossing runways and taxiways at Mojave, this was proving difficult. So, instead, we will create two separate start lines for racers who choose one distance over the other, with a single finish line. In order to do this, we will have to adjust the finish line, which will shorten the slowdown distance from .8 miles to about .7 miles. This should not be a factor except for any extremely fast vehicles that might show up, in which case we will discuss their individual situations one-on-one. This is still in the planning stages, and I will update all of you regularly as we flesh out the changes. One thing that is for sure is the entry fees will change, to a lower amount than the previous Mojave Magnum event, but higher than the Mile events. Racers will be able to choose which distance they wish to run on every pass and will not be limited to just a single choice of distance. In ALL cases, the rules and Tech Speeds will not change. So, for example, if you are in a car in the A1 class with no extra safety gear, and your car can exceed 175 mph in 1.5 miles but not in 1 mile, you will probably prefer to run the mile distance.

We hope that this news is exciting to you and that you will come out for what promises to be a great event.
