I apologize if this has been covered; I did a brief search and didn't find anything.

If I have a lanyard kill that is hooked up to a fuel pump (one that shuts off flow) and I can bump that lanyard off easily with my thumb on the handlebars, will that one switch be sufficient to meet the rules for the lanyard, the fuel flow shutoff, and the engine kill with hands on handlebars?

In other words, say you removed the kill switch from this, and moved the lanyard over to the right where you could bump it off with your thumb.  Would that be rules compliant?

I'm not quite sure what your asking. But, to be legal you must have the toggle kill switch and the lanyard kill. If you have an electric fuel pump it must be shut off with either toggle or lanyard the same time as the ignition kill. Either one must be capable of killing the engine and any fuel pumps.  If you're running fuel you must have a manual petcock that you can close with your hands still on the handlebars.

No, not in the current configuration. Lanyard needs to kill pump and ignition. Toggle switch needs to kill pump and ignition.

Matt, the purpose of the lanyard is to kill the bike when you are not attached to the bike and can't turn the switch off.  The hands on requirement is for when you are on the bike.  If you are doing a fuel bike with a Magneto you will give all of us a chance to do a little creative thinking.

I just mean that the lanyard is technically a kill switch.  You can activate it by pulling on it, or if it is within reach you can just bump the cap off with your thumb.  It seems like it could serve both purposes.

It doesn't matter, I went ahead and put on a separate thumb switch, so now I've got both.

Yea, lanyard is kill switch...when you fall off of the bike at speed and you are bouncing down the track and cannot reach the toggle switch with your thumb the lanyard will turn your bike off.

having just gone through tech at El Ma I will tell you your photo of a switch with the lanyard is what they want to see. I was asked to start and kill the motor with the switch and then restart and do it again with the lanyard. Use a relay to power the pump.
