Question on 'Vintage'

Hi,

       I am about to start the engine build on my project and wondered the following:

If my engine cases are from a bike built in 1960 but the design of the case is unchanged from the model produced in 1955 could it qualify for the Vintage class or would I need to use cases that were actually produced 1955 or before?

Do you have a rulebook?  7.3.10 says components made after 1955 that are exactly the same as those made prior may be used if they offer no competitive advantage.  Prior approval of the contest board is required.  You must provide the proof that they are identical.
Easy path, find a 55 motor to build on...
or submit your question with proof and wait to see what the answer is.

Just from memory: they need not be identical if the later case does not confer any benefit or advantage, and again the burden is on the submitter to make a successful argument.

1960 Triumph 6T cases. I found a fantastic set of cases. I'm not sure whether I'll go Vintage or not yet, just studying all the choices available. They are the same as 1955 ones. I cannot wait to get there for the first time!

1955 cases and 1960 cases are the same except (if I remember right) 60's have a bigger main bearing on the drive side........Your Tech inspector is to young to know the difference.....so go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS. There is no speed advantage using big bearing cases....so go for it
