 huh

I recently talked to Denis Manning and it sounds like he won't be running his liner this year to try to recapture the title of "World's Fastest Motorcycle".  Does anyone know if Sam Wheeler will give it a go in 2012?...and then there's Mike.  Will he try to be the first to go 400 mph?

My Black Lightning Vincent streamliner will be back at the Bub with the wheel on a stick.  The engines are in Germany right now being given a thorough going over by Hartmut Weidelich.  I'm taking care of all the stuff on this end, so for sure we'll be running in 2012.  It's going to be kinda lonesome though without the other streamliners putting on their go-fast show.  Of course there'll be the little ones that always show, and are fun to watch, but the ones that can lay down over 300 mph are rare, and something to behold.

Looks like Sam Wheeler is doing some serious upgrades, going to a Hayabussa engine.

With more power & a solid front wheel the record will very much not be on hold I think.

Pretty good interview here; http://www.streamliner.com/

Cheers

Good story & very well put together too.
A lot of us know the passion he has & the sacrifices it takes to get there.

The video was put together by IGNITION3, the same group that co-produced the WORLD'S FASTEST MOTORCYCLE show for SPEED and the book and DVD by the same title.

IGNITION3 will be doing a documentary show on Sam's pursuit of the record.  Jeff and Jon Lague the creative talent behind this company have been shooting Sam since late 2004, and shot Sam in Australia in March of 2006 when he drove the Ack Attack at Lake Gairdner.  Yes, Sam has driven the Ack Attack, but the conditions were VERY wet and he only went 250.

Sam has very strong sponsorship from PARTS UNLIMITED.  They are the largest motorcycle parts and accessory distributor in the world.  There are supposed to be some other top level sponsors announced soon.  I suspect they will be posted here when that happens.

www.streamliner.com is Sam's website, and it will be updated often with news and details on his preparations.

GO SAM!!! How can't you support this guy! A true underdog with a machine that he completely built himself, going against competitors with much deeper pockets. I have always thought that Sam's bike was one of the best aero designs and now with an injection of more horse power he could be giving the 400 mph mark a real challenge.

Great video and interview.

GO SAM!!!!

I've worked with Mike Akatiff since his journey with the ACK Attack started in 2004.  Mike is one of Sam's biggest fans.  I've heard him talk about the respect he has Sam on countless occassions.  I remember hearing him say that "no one deserved the record more than Sam"...and this came duing the heated record battle of 2006.

Being a new fan to the sport, I remember thinking how odd and wonderful it was that a fellow competitor could really say something like that and truely mean it.  You have to love the BIG FOUR...Mike, Dennis, Sam and the Kansas Bad Man.

People that accomplish as these four have all respect one another.

They are among the few that truly understand what it takes.

I respect them so much.

Denis stands above the entire group only because he wears platform shoes.

I have seen Sam's bike up close both with the skin on and off.  It is one of those pieces of machinery that you can just stand spellbound and look at for hours and never quite be able to fully grasp the incredible detail and finish and precision of everything about it.

They all are built like someones life depends on it....
All racers should take this to heart, build and safety equip like your life depends on it.  IT DOES!
