Anyone notice the date change? The event is now Sept. 8-11, Saturday - Tuesday. Pits open on Sept. 6th, inspection Sept. 7th.

I think this puts the event before the Sept. El Mirage meet instead of following. Also leaves a gap to Mike Cook's traditional start date.

Doesn't affect me, I'll be there.

Thanks for that comment, Dan.  Nancy and I have enjoyed it when we can go to WoS and stay over for the Shootout -- and sure would be happier if Mike changes the Shootout dates to allow us to continue doing that.

A potential drawback to Mike moving the event up a week - is that the salt will then be hosting three events back-to-back -- Bub's, WoS, and the Shootout.  While the Shootout course isn't the same as WoS it is the one that Bub uses, I think, and maybe the combined stresses on the surface will make for worse conditions.  Who knowze?  I guess there's not much to do but stay tuned as things develop.

I would also expect that the move to a weekend will increase spectator attendance.  So a three day weekend (Labor day), a two day work week, and then a week out and back.  Not sure if I like the change or not, but I do prefer WOS to Speedweek.

Aside from Speedweek, a couple of weeks at the Rat Palace with the secret code for the good deal will be so inexpensive, they'll pay me when I check out.  Okay, maybe not, but there are $45 a night rooms, without bedbugs, once the crowd leaves in mid-August and you check in for a week at a time.

Charles,

America's Best Value Inn
1325 Wendover Boulevard
West Wendover
It's across the street from the Pilot Truck Stop

Plenty of parking for those pulling trailers.

Cheers,

The only time any of them are expensive is during the first weekend of speed week, one room during speed week is about the same for three for world finals...
