Breedlove 800 MPH in 2013?
« on: October 27, 2011, 11:05:23 AM »
Craig Breedlove has announced an intention to construct / obtain a vehicle and try to reach 800 MPH sometime in 2013.  This from the Hemmings blog:

http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2011/10/26/craig-breedlove-announces-plans-to-break-the-800-mph-mark/comment-page-1/#comment-2935041

"Someone else" would drive.

Thoughts?

This should be interesting to follow. Looking forward to seeing the design concept and FR is probably turning back flips over this.

Wonder where he plans to run? We've been turned down by the BLM at Alvord and Diamond Valley, can't seem to get cooperation from
the Air Force bureaucrats at Edwards and the salt is questionable. Maybe he can get the backing to run in South Africa like the Brits.
I'm beginning to consider the Ice Road in the Arctic.

So craig is going to buy back the car that he sold to steve fossett and let someone else drive the car. Why did he not do that in first place instead of selling the car.

Racefan, I do not know and have never met Craig Breedlove, but he sold the car to Fossett because of a lack of funding to race it on his own.
Keep in mind that when the Brit's booked Black Rock and broke the sound barrier, they spent millions on logistics including aircraft patroling the dessert from above as mandated by the BLM, so it ain't no cheep deal.
Having followed Breedloves adventures since he ran a go-cart streamliner on the salt in, I believe 1960, and following how he built the first jet car (which ended up in the pond) in his parents driveway, somehow getting sponsorship from Goodyear and Shell along the way, I have no doubt that with his charisma, looks and history that he has the ability to find the resources to accomplish putting the plan into action.
Whether or not he can clear the beuracratic nightmare is the real question.

I don't know if Craig bought the SOA back or what his plan is but I do know he had to sign a non-compete clause with Fossett that
would not allow him to build another car and run against his old SOA. I believe it was for a period of 3 years. Considering he sold the
car to Steve for $2 mil and Fossett's wife was now asking $4 mil for it, he must have made a deal with Peggy or he is actually building
another car.

Considering the lack of support by American corporations for a US project I guess the Brits will just keep marching along.
US Corperations, STP, Lockheed, Intel are all supporting the Bloodhound project while they snub the US project.
Hell, we can't even get a track to run on. The BLM and the Air Force aren't interested in helping either. Go figure!

Looks like 2013 could be the lucky year!

A possible 7 teams looking for records in the
near future, you couldn't write a better movie
script.  Time to seperate the boys from the men.

Breedlove back in the game.
Noble on the horizon.
Rosco doing his thing.
Waldo, JetBlack, and Bullet Project.
Even that other American team, NAE.

Who is going to market their way to the top first?
That's alot of teams looking for even more money.
This is the real race.  New record 14 years overdue!

What's the odds in Vegas?  I'll pick ?  What mph?   When?
Anyone, anyone............

Odds? Follow the money. 2013? Could be 2023.

Breedlove is going to have to hook a tow strap to Bloodhound SSC.  :-o
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.
