Only the first one's a legitimate SCTA record. The rest are made up by Ford, Hajek, etc. to make for great, but distorted press. There were no official sanctions for the alternative fuel records. :| :| :|

nice to see my picture in the press.

Pete is right, only 167 is a SCTA record...the other was a one way run and also, unfortunately, too fast....the car has only a inspection sticker up to 175 mph....to go legal faster he needs a different roll cage.

Hope they paid you for the picture PP because they're using it to lead to Ford truck ads to sell Ford trucks. Try clicking on any picture in the article. :-o :-o :-o

I'm not impressed.

I believe thats the guy who bought the first 10 factory race car blower drag race Mustangs and who also owns the one that Mickey Thompsons son drove at Bonneville last year. He also owns an S-load of historic factory Ford drags cars too. Apparently his farm makes more money then most do.

It's sad to see the way that article tries to bend the truth around, saying it set 3 records!. It just takes away from the one they really did set and from all the people who worked on it to get it done. The old record was 166.85 and they went 169.331 but the article misleads people to believe the record to be 171.123. Guess with the Ford press we are going to have to learn to read between the line more often!

Without trying to be melancholy, what I will never forget is my 219 pass at 7200' density altitude with the early Old's motor.
When I built the motor I knew I Had to run against new motor's, so I had nothing to gain or prove except how fast it might go.
The only drawback was fighting bearing problem's for eight year's.
Knowing how much work we put into that motor it gave me more gratification than any record might produce.
Having finally solved the bearing problem, I hope to run it again in 2013 and tip the can.......  Bob

This is what is called a promo article - advertising designed to look like legitimate news. Best kind of advertising a company can buy, because people believe it to be unbiased truth.

Too bad Ford couldn't do the timing at SpeedWeek.  We'd all have fantastic records!
