I've seen no chatter about the ultra-fast 'liners for this meet......

Dennis M. with #7?

Ack-Attack?

Any new  'liner  bikes and faces that'll set the Salt on fire this meet??

Who with the potential for a new all-time motorcycle LSR will be there this year?

Will we see one-way 400 mph?  Two-way?

I'm hopin' for beneficial weather and a safe meet.........and will be leaving for the Flats in a couple of days.

I believe the only fast streamliner scheduled to run is the Vincent. Ack and Bubs are saving their stuff for the shootout. Personally that is better IMO as it doesn't take up so much time for others to get runs in.

My guess Lee is there are most likely a couple hundred bikes that may not be knocking on the 400 mph door, but are still looking forward to setting some salt on fire with their dream machines. What intrigues me the most about the BUB event is huge variety of bikes, and the creativity of the builders. Not to forget all the great Volunteers who help make the event possible
From 50 cc to 3000 cc  they are all out to set their own piece of salt on fire.
If you love motorcycles,  there is one place to be at the end of August - its the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials
Have fun, stop by the Gray Ghost pit , say hello and have a cold H2o

The problem that the fast guys have going 400 mph at the Bub Meet is the length of course Denis grades for his long course.  Mike Cook grades all the way to the highway.  This gives the Cook course an additional mile and a half or so.  The Vincent streamliner has been invited to attend several times, but coming up with the $5000 to Mike, and then splitting the cost for the FIM Officials to show up is virtually impossible.  That's a boatload of money for this old pensioneer, even if I have had a lot of help from my friends.

Denis called me three or four months ago to check on my health, as I'd just undergone a pretty extensive surgery.  I asked what the status of the Bub Lucky 7 was, he said, "It's ready to run", however, he said he didn't feel he could make any runs this year.

Mike Akatiff with Rocky Robinson at the helm will undoubtably push the LSR record to over 400 mph.  In my opinion it'll be a major hurdle for anyone to challenge the Ack Attack machine.

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime.  His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.

Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all.
